Pollution Levels Rise

Rising Chinese pollution levels measured from outer space are indicating a gradual but uneven industrial pickup following the economic slowdown. Though the level of nitrogen dioxide has risen by nearly 50% since mid-February, it is still around 20% lower than the equivalent last year. This data offers key clues regarding the health of the world’s second-largest economy. Daily coal consumption at coastal plants of six major power groups was up almost 25% from 10 February.
