Chongqing BRI Hotspot

Chongqing will speed up the construction of a cross-border land-sea trade corridor so it can play a greater role in the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI). Chongqing offers major geographic advantages, as it is a connecting point for the BRI and Yangtze Economic Belt. “We should make good use of this advantage and build Chongqing into an international logistics hub to drive regional development,” noted Chongqing Mayor Tang Liangzhi. The city has experienced strong economic growth with an average GDP growth rate of 8.3% over the past seven years. During a recent visit the Chinese President Xi Jinping noted the area should continue to be an anchor of large-scale development.
